"When I used to Dream "

When I used to Dream, my father would wake me tf up.

He'd say "Boy all that damn noise at night gonna get u beat tf up".

I'd apologize to my daddy saying "poppa i's don't mean any harms".

And he'd ask "well what the hell are you doing waking me before My alarms?".

I'm just dreaming at night poppa, I...I likes to see and be many things.

And he'd say "well don't try to be getting hung up on those be silly silly strings".

Well poppa I'm just fixing up my's future, I'd really like to play ball.

What!? "Nigga please, those for them known types..the too talls".

"The school boys of no education, the new slaves, under new laws".

"That shit is for the fool, for the dummy, not you all".

He'd say "grab a tool, fills ya tummy, play a music, be Lou Rawls".

"Be Malcom X, Dr. Martin, fill those shoes, ya ain't too small".

I wouldn't mind it if I find it and bind it to me where I could wear about two draws.

Them some big men, done Big things, I'm one man with just two balls.

"Coward!, on two feet worse than faggot, crying in submission when he crawls!".

I done been some hell of names, at the top of huge mountains, and verbally taken a few falls.

My daddy said he loves me but I've been the many worst of all things.

I wasn't sure for a long time if I'd ever free myself from the reigns.

Of him pulling and tugging, tugging and pulling me backwards in the rains.

And I broke free of incarceration, to some thought as eight years down the drain.

And memorized chapters of a Glorious Book, Learned me a few things.

That the dreamer is only sleep when he has not yet awaken his strength, untamed.

Wake up Dreamers, Fear not, the blame of the ashamed.

I wish I knew this, When I used to Dream.
